Setting Up Xero Authentication for Individual Users

For Xero Version 3 Authentication. To use when an employee or volunteer with access to MiMembership needs to be able to integrate with Xero for General Ledger purposes i.e. sending financial journals from MiMembership to Xero


To complete the authorization the user must have a login to the company Xero account.



Step by Step Guide


1. Navigate to Configuration and under Integration select Integration Settings.

2. Under Manage Integrations select General Ledger.

3. In General Ledger select the Authorize Xero button.

4. Log in to Xero

Note: if you return an error webpage check your email for a confirmation from Xero; confirm and continue to log in to Xero

5. Select the Allow access button.

6. Select an organisation from the drop-down menu and then select Connect.

Note: If a message appears, stating the system is already allowing access just select Connect.

This will direct the user back to the MiMembership GL settings, with the buttons available to Revoke Connection. No further action is required. Continue to test the connection.

7. Test the MiMembership connection to Xero

  • Navigate to Configuration > Financials > Chart of Accounts
  • Click on Name hyperlink - GL Code
  • Click the Retrieve Categories from Xero button
  • Click the Get GL Codes button - this will query Xero and return a list of your Chart of Accounts
