FAQ for SMS
What happens if a member replies to the SMS?
An SMS sent from MiMembership is a one way message.
Reply messages from the member will not be received by the club.
Where can I find the SMS History (or Email History) for a member?
From the member record: use the Member Action button and select History and then SMS History
From the main menu: expand the Communications display and select SMS History

Can Members opt out of receiving an SMS from MiMembership?
Yes, but not directly from the SMS message.
In the member record: untick the SMS check box located next to the mobile number under the Contact Details tab.

Can I send a link to a website in an SMS?
Yes. If you paste or type a web site link containing 'www.' or 'https://' into the body of the message it will be automatically detected and sent as a clickable URL. To save character count, make sure you end the link with a forward slash ( / ) and the link will be 'shortened'.
The setting for URL Shortener is enabled by default to ensure long URLs will not take up valuable character count, which may impose higher SMS costs due to multi-part messages. EG: https://www.miclub.com.au/ will be shortened to ssg.gl/2daed. The links expire after a period of time depending on the setting (default 30 days).
If you do not want the URL to be shortened do not include a forward slash ( / ) at the end. EG: www.miclub.com.au instead of www.miclub.com.au/
Communications Disclaimer
The MiMembership communications module is specifically designed for the distribution of financial documents. Emails or SMS messages sent through the platform are classified as solicited communications and, as such, do not include an unsubscribe (opt-out) option.
In line with email compliance regulations, unsolicited or promotional emails must include a clear unsubscribe link. As such, using MiMembership to send promotional content does not meet these requirements and may constitute a breach of email legislation.
For general member communications such as newsletters, we recommend using MiClub's eNews feature available through the Golf platform. eNews is purpose-built for unsolicited emails and automatically includes the required unsubscribe functionality.
